What is Prio?

Prio is a prepaid solar service. Instead of purchasing a system, with Prio you prepay for 15 years of electricity produced by a solar system Certasun will install at your home.

Certasun will own the system, so you won’t be responsible for maintenance, insurance, or repairs. All that is on us.

BENEFITS OF PRIO

Opting for Prio means opting for convenience, savings, and reliability. Your upfront payment includes:

15 years of energy at a fixed, low rate and guaranteed production

No monthly payments or financing

Maintenance, repairs, and insurance

Passthrough of value of federal tax credit normally available only to businesses

Top-tier equipment installed by local experts (Certasun!)

With Prio, you can enjoy the the benefits of solar affordably and without worry.

How is Prio Different?

Prio is not a lease or a loan. You don’t need to secure financing or commit to regular monthly payments. You pay up front, in three installments, while we build the system.

Prio is not a purchase, either. Certasun will own and maintain the system.

Prio is offered by a local company (Certasun), not a national finance company or bank.

Finally, you’ll benefit immediately from state, utility, and federal incentives, which are factored into your up-front payment.

What Does Prepaying for Energy Mean?

Your specific Prio electricity rate will depend on both your system size and its productivity. But let’s take as an example a system with a locked-in Prio rate of eight cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), that is projected to produce 100,000 kWh over 15 years (which is pretty typical). Your total prepayment (and total cost) would be $8,000.

Compare that to staying with ComEd, with a current rate of over 17 cents per kWh.  Even assuming they don’t raise prices at all for fifteen years (a big assumption, and not actually what we expect), the same energy would cost $17,000!

“Certasun’s teams, including sales, system design, installation and commissioning, were wonderful. The proposal was upfront in costs and incentives and the installation teams were professional in their work and took care to clean up afterwards.”
